I was here in my mobile home during that storm. I looked out a particular window in time to see a large limb (small tree) from a neighbors yard come sailing over the fence and come to rest with a shaking thud, against my trailer.
I don't get out much, but did go out surveying a bit with girlfriend's uncle enough to see that not only Marion but the entire region was devastated. Wind estimates from WSIL3 TV Weather had winds estimated from 70-107 MPH. This system screwed up nature's landscape bigtime, sheering whole lots and stands of trees "no matter their size" from their morings in the ground.

Personally: I was without power 4 days. Phone never disconnected. Cable and internet were out 4 and 3 days respectively. Cleanup is mostly completed.

Don't want to go through that again!

A devastating storm every 30 years in Marion, I wonder what's up with that? But 30 years ago, my neighborhood here in Old Philadelphia looked like those photos of Marion, only it was from abandonment and decay. Took confronting forces like those land hurricanes to turn it around, the destructive power of us humans is a heck of a way to play our part in the big scheme of things.
